Gisborne

Last month we started a monthly Christian counsellors meeting in Gisborne.  It was great to meet different Christian counsellors, working in a wide variety of
settings, from private counsellors, to counsellors working in national agencies, to counsellors working within their local churches.  The goals include increasing networking amongst counsellors and raising the profile of NZCCA amongst Christian counsellors in Gisborne.  Networking is something which is often difficult when one is working privately.  The initial meeting was great as we were able to share and become aware of each other's areas of expertise.  This is so valuable in terms of staying up to date with what is on
offer in our local community and being able to refer our clients / whanau on to appropriate service providers.  While currently only a third of the counsellors are members of NZCCA, we are hoping this will increase as we raise the profile locally.
