September Conference Cancelled. Planning for a shorter conference for 6 -7 November.
Kia ora koutou
With the Covid announcement on Monday 30th August, confirming that Auckland will remain at Level 4 until September 13th, it has confirmed our deliberation over the last week that we can no longer go ahead with Conference on 16-18th September in person as planned. After cancelling Conference last year, this has been another difficult decision to be faced with and one we were very reluctant to make.
We considered the alternative of moving Conference to an online platform, however, there were without the right equipment, experience and resources, and ensuring we managed this professionally in such a short timeframe, is extremely challenging and beyond our current capability and capacity. Most importantly, going online loses not only the very heart and essence of our NZCCA Conferences, but also is a huge disservice to our indigenous cultures that are best conveyed and experienced kanohi ki te kanohi. With this in mind, we have managed to secure one of the very few dates still available at Te Wharewaka in Wellington and decided that instead of cancelling Indigenous Practices & Pathways Conference for yet another year, that we would review the programme and scale it down slightly which will enable us to hold a smaller Conference on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th November. Please look out for further details as we work through these changes.
All paid registrations for the September Conference will be refunded and new registration details will be set up for the shorter Conference in November. Please email your bank account name and number to firstname.lastname@example.org . If your organisation paid your conference fee we will need their bank details. Refunds will be made within a few days of receiving this information.
In line with cancelling Conference in September, we have also decided to proceed with the AGM on Friday 17th September at 4pm as planned, however, transfer this online. Again, we’re currently working through these details and will confirm as soon as we’re able.
More information will be published soon.
Thank you all for your understanding and support at this time
